UPDATE — 12 SEPTEMBER 2026
AVM/Actv says Fondamente Nove “D” will be suspended from 09:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday 15 September 2026, and in any case until the work is complete, so the floating pontoon can be replaced. During the closure, lines 4.2 and 5.2 towards Bacini use landing C, while line 13 uses landing B.
This is a short closure, but it affects one of Venice’s most important interchange points for northern-lagoon journeys. The useful detail is not that Fondamente Nove itself disappears from the network — it does not — but that the usual lettered landing for these services changes for several hours.
THE SHORT VERSION
If you normally board at Fondamente Nove D on Tuesday morning, do not walk straight to the familiar pontoon. From 09:00, follow ACTV signage: 4.2 and 5.2 towards Bacini move to C; line 13 moves to B. The suspension is scheduled until noon, but ACTV explicitly says it can continue until the work is finished.
01 · Exactly what closes — and when
ACTV’s notice, published on 11 September, says the F. Nove “D” landing will be suspended from 09:00 to 12:00 on Tuesday 15 September 2026. The operator adds “and in any case until the end of the works”, so noon should be treated as the planned finish rather than an absolute guarantee.
The reason is straightforward: crews are replacing the floating pontoon. This is a landing-specific works closure, not a shutdown of the entire Fondamente Nove stop complex.
02 · Lines 4.2, 5.2 and 13 move to different landings
During the suspension, ACTV says line 4.2 and line 5.2 services in the direction of Bacini will use landing C. Line 13 will use landing B.
That distinction matters because Fondamente Nove has multiple lettered landings close together. A passenger who knows the stop well can still lose time by walking automatically to D, especially if they arrive just before departure. Check the letter on the live signage rather than relying on muscle memory.
03 · The last regular departures from D before the switch
ACTV lists the final regular departures using the normal arrangement before the works begin: line 4.2 at 08:40, line 5.2 at 08:50 and line 13 at 08:45.
If your trip is close to 09:00, the simplest plan is to assume the temporary landing arrangement may already be operational by the time you arrive and look for the current platform signs. Do not plan a tight connection around being the last passenger to use D.
04 · Who is most likely to notice the disruption
Residents and workers who routinely use Fondamente Nove are the obvious group because the change interrupts a familiar boarding pattern. Visitors heading into the northern lagoon can also be affected, particularly anyone using line 13 or connecting through Fondamente Nove as part of a Murano, Vignole or Sant’Erasmo journey.
The service is not being advertised as cancelled. The operational change is the temporary landing assignment. That makes this a “check the pier letter” problem rather than a reason to abandon the vaporetto altogether.
05 · A practical Tuesday-morning plan
- Arrive a few minutes earlier: give yourself time to find B or C rather than D.
- Follow ACTV signs and staff: temporary operations can be adjusted on site if the work sequence changes.
- Re-check if travelling after noon: the notice says the suspension lasts until the works are complete, even though noon is the scheduled finish.
- Protect tight onward connections: a few extra minutes walking between landings can matter when your next boat has a longer interval.
- Use the official notice: screenshots from earlier in the week are less useful than ACTV’s current service update on the morning.
06 · Why a small pier change can matter at Fondamente Nove
Fondamente Nove is not one simple platform. It is a cluster of landings serving different routes around Venice and the lagoon. That is why a works notice affecting a single lettered pontoon can create more confusion than its three-hour window suggests.
For regular passengers, the risk is habit. For visitors, the risk is assuming “Fondamente Nove” is enough information. On Tuesday morning, the useful information is the line number, direction and temporary landing letter.
07 · What happens after 12:00
The published target is for landing D to be suspended until 12:00, but ACTV’s wording leaves room for the work to run longer. We would not state that D is definitely back in operation at 12:01 unless the operator confirms it on the day.
If you are travelling around lunchtime, check the current Muoversi Venezia notice or the signs at Fondamente Nove. Once the pontoon replacement is finished, ACTV can restore the normal landing arrangement.
08 · Sources & verification
This article was checked on 12 September 2026 against AVM/Actv’s official Muoversi Venezia service notice, published 11 September. The operator is the primary source for the closure window, reason for the works, temporary landing assignments and last regular departures.
